Milind Soman: No gym, no diet, fitter today than I was 20 years ago (With video)

Model and actor Milind Soman won the toughest triathlon in the world on Sunday in Zurich.

He swam for 3.8-km, took a 180.2-km cycle ride and then ran for 42.2-km to lift the Ironman title.

The man, who will turn 50 shortly, says he feels fitter today than he was 20 years ago.

In a short video, he explains his fitness mantra: no fancy workout, getting the basics right and being conscious of your health is what matters.  

Milind Soman does not go to gym, nor does he run everyday. He likes to eat healthy food, but does not follow any dietary restriction except avoiding sugar. Monitoring what you eat is important, he says.  

He was a swimmer when he was young, so he got a V-body. For youngsters obsessed with a Hrithik Roshan-body type, Milind Soman says more than the way it looks, the way it feels is important.

For the office drones, who the sit the whole day, he says it is important to take frequent breaks.  If you are thinking, walk around and do it. Go down the stairs and come up a few times before lunch.

Keep your body hydrated by sipping water every 15 minutes. But don’t keep a water bottle on your table. Force yourself to get up and walk for the drink, says Milind Soman.
