Katrina Kaif has reportedly denied that it cost Rs 55 lakh to get her hair coloured red for her upcoming movie Fitoor.
The red shade meant to match the colour of chinar tree leaves of Kashmir is her signature look in the movie.
A tweet sent by her fan club says she spoke to India Today on Thursday denying the report, though the publication is yet to air the interview.
There was outrage on Thursday after a spate of media reports said - all without any confirmation - that Fitoor producer had spent Rs 55 lakh on Katrina's hair.
One report said 200 poor kids could have been given college education with the same amount.
Fitoor director Abhishek Kapoor wants to capture the soul of Kashmir in the movie, a Dickensian love story. So, he was particular that the Chinar shades come out in Katrina's hair colour.
According to the media reports, the filmmakers had to fly Katrina to London as none of the Indian hairstylists could get the exact shade. The cost of monthly first class travel and five star accommodation in London reportedly ran up the bill to Rs 55 lakh.
There are many holes in the story. It is outright silly to say Indian hairstylists were not able produce the wanted hair colour.
London is Katrina's hometown, where her mother and siblings live in a huge bungalow at Hampstead, which she bought after making it big in Bollywood.
She is extremely close to them and why would she stay in a five star hotel while in London.
