JUD chief Hafiz Saeed released a video on YouTube on Monday stating that his pro-JNU protest tweet was a fake.
The tweet was even cited by Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday to suggest that the protesting JNU students were receiving support from Hafiz Saeed, a wanted terrorist in India .
But the handle Hafiz Saeed, from which the controversial tweet was posted, turned out to be fake. The tweet had described JNU students as pro-Pakistan and urged support for their protests.
In the three-minute long video, Hafiz Saeed said he felt strange reading reports that he had endorsed the protests atIndia ’s Jawarlal Nehru University .
He was utterly surprised when the Indian Home Minister referred to the tweet posted in his name, he added.
He dismissed the tweet as fake and the charge that he was backing protests inIndia as totally baseless.
He accused Rajnath Singh of misleading his own people.
