The rumour that went viral on Monday quoting Ratan Tata saying his companies will not hire JNU students has been officially struck down.
Tata Group of Companies tweeted from their official Twitter handle @TataCompanies saying Ratan Tata had not made any such statement.
According to the rumour, Ratan Tata allegedly made the statement during a speech delivered in Mumbai at a Make In India event.
An upset Ratan Tata called JNU students anti-nationals and said they need not apply for jobs in his companies, the rumour reported.
The Hindi-English bilingual rumour spread fast on social media and was hailed by many as an example for other companies to follow to teach the anti-national JNU students a good lesson.
It also figured prominently in the hashtag #CleanupJNU that trended on Twitter on Monday.
