In medical marvel, doctors at Mumbai Sion hospital removed a seven-feet iron rod from the head of a construction worker, Mohammed Guddu, 24.
Dr Batuk Diyora who removed the iron rod during a five-hour surgery, said it was a miracle that Guddu survived such an injury.
Guddu was reportedly working at a construction site in Malad last Sunday when a rod fell from the fourth floor. It pierced through the top of the head, and partially exited from the back of the head.
He was remarkably conscious when he was brought to the hospital. Diyora and his team cut open the skull around the rod to pull it out with minimal blood loss and impact on adjoining tissues.
Guddu is expected to stay in the hospital for two weeks and recover fully in three months.
Ahmedabad Mirror reports that he was lucky as the iron rod had pierced what doctors call a 'safe passage' in the brain. His brain stem wasn't damaged and arteries carrying blood to the brain were also safe," he added.
