BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra is facing some heat for using the photoshopped image of American soldiers to score a debating point on a TV show.

A screen-grab of him holding up the doctored image of Raising the Flag on Iwo Jimais going viral.

In the photoshop version, the USflag has been replaced by the Indian Tri-Colour.

Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a historic photograph taken on February 23, 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It depicts six United States soldiers hoisting American flag atop Mount Suribachi, during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.

The Sambit Patra photoshop incident occurred during the News Hour show on Time Now, which debated the Central Government’s direction to hoist Indian flag at central universities.

Sambit Patra was labouring the point to draw attention to the sacrifices made by the Indian soldiers to keep the flag fluttering.

In the same debate, Maj Gen Bakshi broke down while saying the sacrifices of the soldiers were not being acknowledged.
