Umar Khalid’s family, including his youngest sister Sarah Fatima, took part in a rally on Tuesday to press for the release of JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya and former DU lecturer SAR Geelani.
Sarah Fatima, 12, dismissed the anti-national charges against Umar and said they were based on doctored videos. She asked her brother to keep fighting for the right cause.
After the JNU controversy broke put reports suggested that Umar’s family was being harassed and that his youngest sister had even stopped attending school.
It is good to see her leaving the bitter episode behind and speaking with confidence and clarity.
Sarah Fatima had message for JNU as well – stay strong.
