Senior Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan made a concerned speech in Rajya Sabha protesting the attack on migrant workers in the country.
"There will be another partition in this country, and this time not by foreigners but by our own people. This will be a divide based on religion, caste and language," the Samajwadi Party MP told in the Rajya Sabha.
She was criticising the call given by MNS to attack non-Marathi speaking auto drivers in Mumbai, though without naming the party.
"People from Hindi heartland go looking for jobs to other states and there they do not get jobs because they don't speak the language of the state, which is so sad. They are intimidated," she added.
She also reminded that after Independence, the country had been divided into smaller units most recently with Telangana separating from Andhra Pradesh.
Jaya Bachchan speech marked by strong words faced interruption from fellow members and from presiding officer P J Kurien under time pressure.
