A video of a group of North Karnataka villagers smashing a crocodile to death has surfaced.
The unfortunate animal, which may have strayed out of a river, was caught by the villagers at a nearby field.
They chased and cornered the crocodile, before turning its head into a pulp with stones.
A report in NDTV said the incident may have taken place in a village called Shivnur on the banks of River Krishna in Yadgir district.
It is disturbing to see the villagers thoroughly enjoying their act of shocking cruelty. Some of them can be heard laughing and teasing the animal by pulling its tail and leaping over it, while others hit it with stones.
The Deputy Conservator of Forests of Yadgir, Y Chakrapani, told NDTV that visited Shivnur but could not find any evidence of the act, which is a crime under Wildlife Protection Act.
