Congress VP Rahul Gandhi visited Jantar Mantar inNew Delhi in support of protesting jewellers and made a speech lampooning Modi’s flagship Make in India scheme as "babbar sher".
Rahul Gandhi had first described Make inIndia as "babbar sher", a mocking reference to its lion mascot, in his budget speech in the Parliament drawing angry reactions from BJP.
The jewellers are protesting against one per cent excise duty on non-silver jewellery items.
He told jewellers that Modi’s Make inIndia initiative would benefit only five to six big industrialists, “…who want to suck your blood and earn through 'dalali' (brokery). ”

He told jewellers that Modi’s Make in
"Babbar sher" wants to "strangulate" small businesses, Rahul Gandhi said, while adding that small jewellers did not have factories worth Rs 10,000 crore.
"This is not an excise duty on you. This is an assassination attempt on you. You are being killed.... But why are you being killed? Who will benefit from this?” asked Rahul Gandhi.
