It's Arnab Goswami Vs Charu Sharma on holding IPL matches at a time of drought (video below) |
Arnab Goswami, who was going through a lull period after JNU, managed to create buzz on drought in Maharashtra with some help from cricket commentator and administrator, Charu Sharma.
The exchange between them was fun to watch as both of them are combative and professional communicators.
Arnab Goswami wanted IPL in Maharashtra to be scrapped as farmers were struggling without water.
Charu Sharma opposed saying it was pointless symbolism, which was picking on IPL, without making similar demands on others such as golf courses.
Charu Sharma started saying 'take a deep breath Arnab' and asked if the Time Now offices had switched off air conditioning as it was water intensive. He also asked if Times of India had stopped publishing newspapers as paper manufacturing was very waster intensive.
Had the Times group sent 10,000 trucks bearing water to Latur to help farmers, Charu Sharma wanted to know.
Arnab Goswami called Charu Sharma's arguments ridiculous and asked if he had saved 300 ml of water by skipping shaving in the morning.
The debate proceeded further after both sides had made such profound arguments.
