Trupti Desai and a fellow woman activist climbed the platform of the Shani Shingnapur temple and entered the sanctum sanctorum on Friday.
As they entered the premise, a security guard manning the gate leading to the sanctum sanctorum, opened it bringing to an end a successful agitation against the 400-year-old discrimination against women.
A video from Times Now shows the two women making a water offering to Lord Shani .
Earlier in the day, the Shani Shingnapur temple trust decided to allow women after a large group of men breached the security and offered prayers at the sanctum sanctorum.
It has been a tradition for male devotees to offer the water after performing a pooja on Gudi Padwa every year, which fell on Friday.
The Bombay High Court had on April 1 held that it is the women's fundamental right to go into places of worship and the government was duty-bound to protect it.
A women's group , Bhoomata Brigade led by activist Trupti Desai had been agitating for the entry of women into the sanctum sanctorum of the Shani Shingnapur temple.
