Savita, a bride in Sikar, Rajasthan, mounted a horse and led the baraat procession to her groom’s house turning a tradition upside down.
A video from Daink Bhaskar shows a regular wedding procession with lights and dancing relatives with an exception - it is the bride not the groom on the horse.
Savita is also dressed like a groom in male attire – kurta, pyjama and turban.
It is not clear what prompted Kailash to initiate the unusual ceremony.
Three years ago, a bride in Madhya Pradesh, Rajni, had similarly rode baraat to the groom's house.
Her Patidar community had a unique tradition — 'Kanya Ghatari'—, wherein the bride took her baraat to the groom's place. Though the tradition had waned, Rajni sought to revive it and send a message for the empowerment of women.
