Dipa Karmakar created history on Monday by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for Olympics.
The 22-year-old girl from Agartala, Tripura, scored 52.698 points in the Olympics qualifying event to book a berth for artistic gymnastics in Rio Games to be held here in August.

Born in 1993, Dipa Karmakar came to spotlight when she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, held at Glasgow .
She was the first Indian female gymnast to do so in the history of the games and also one of the five women who have successfully performed the very difficult Produnova vault in competition, She holds the highest score (15.100 ) in the elite group.
