Cricket legend Jonty Rhodes and wife Melanie do Hindu puja for daughter India in Mumbai – photo goes viral

Jonty Rhodes, legendary South African fielder and Mumbai Indians fielding coach, performed a puja for his daughter India following Hindu rituals in Mumbai on Friday.  A photo of him doing havan along with his wife Melanie and India at Pejawar Mutt in Santacruz, Mumbai, has gone viral.  Jonty Rhodes is seen dressed up in traditional Hindu religious attire.

Jonty Rhodes, legendary South African fielder and Mumbai Indians fielding coach, performed a puja for his daughter India following Hindu rituals in Mumbai on Friday.

A photo of him doing havan along with his wife Melanie and India at Pejawar Mutt in Santacruz, Mumbai, has gone viral.  Jonty Rhodes is seen dressed up in traditional Hindu religious attire.

There are also three boys in the background, who were erroneously identified as Jonty Rhodes’s sons, by a section of the media.

Besides India, Jonty Rhodes has two children, Daniella and Rose from his earlier marriage.

Jonty Rhodes, also shared anther photo of a visit to a temple in Tamil Nadu recently. The same children are seen in that wearing a sandal paste on their forehead.

Jonty Rhodes a long-time admirer of India, named his daughter after the country, where she was born as well last year.


He had said he named his daughter Indiaas he wanted to her to have a good balance of life India stands for.

" What I love about Indiais that it's a rich mix of culture, heritage and tradition. It is a very spiritual country, very forward-thinking nation. I really like that combination, he had said.
