A house in the Oyel village of Lakhimpur, UP, has shot into limelight by unwittingly hosting over a 10 snakes.
The local forest department has captured the slithering animals and released them in a nearby forest.
In the drama that unfolded recently, two snakes were initially found in the house of a resident, Jitendra Mishra. It was night and the family members heard the hissing sound and woke up to spot them.
The snakes were captured with the help of neighbours and near a river that flows nearby.
The next day was worse. Snakes came in slithering in from different directions, prompting the family to call a professional catcher from the nearby Sultanpur. When he broke a rarely-used wall, they were aghast see a snake pit with over a hundred of them.
Though the forest department has removed all snakes, the entire village is still terrified. Many say they prefer to spend time sitting on cots than risk moving about in the floor.
