Cannes Film Festival is usually a yawn affair unless something like Aishwarya Rai-in-purple lips hits the red carpet.
The Bollywood actress, who has been a regular for 15 years now, became a social media sensation as she inexplicably decided on the colour purple to adorn her lips.
In the biggest fashion disaster ever suffered in her long career, Aishwarya Rai soon became a butt of jokes, ranging from the crass to subtle.
Aishwarya Rai tried to do so some damage control after landing in Mumbai on Monday. She defended her appearance saying did not have the time to pay attention to the fashion choices before her as she was busy with the promotion of Sarabjit.
Trying to crack a joke, she also threatened that some day she would walk the Cannes Red Carpet in jeans and white shirt.
