After Aishwarya Rai became globally famous with her purple lips, Sonam Kapoor kept the Bollywood flag flying with a rumali roti gown at Cannes.

At least, that’s what the Twitter thinks.

Experts said the custom-made Ralph & Russo gown, Sonam wore to Red Carpet was pure class.

The sari-inspired long train and the gold work along the borders, coupled with jewels from Chopard and shoes from Ferragamo, was made for the connoisseurs of high fashion.

But they seem to be in absolute minority on Twitter, which looks at these things quite literally without imagination.

Trolls took over seeing a rumali roti in what Sonam wore and wondering how long would it have taken Gandhiji to weave it with his charaka.
