Venkiah Naidu is not the only non-Karnataka MP in the current Rajya Sabha. |

BJP leader Venkiah Naidu, who is all set to get elected to Rajya Sabha from Karnataka, has run into unexpected resistance from the usually accommodating Kannadigas.
They are angry that Venkiah Naidu, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, is likely to get the party ticket again.
If that happens and if he wins, which is a certainty, the 66-year-old leader would have spent 24 years of his life as a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka.
He has won three six year terms in 1998, 2004 and 2010.
Kannadigas are upset that despite such a long innings, he has nothing to show for what he has done for the state. He still cannot speak a word of Kannada.
His presence in the league on Karnataka MPs has been, at best, symbolic. Whenever Karnataka is locked in a dispute with Tamil Nadu over Cauvery, he accompanies the delegation of state MPs to meet the PM, but without opening his mouth.
Venkiah Naidu is not the only non-Karnataka MP in the current Rajya Sabha.
Rangasayee Ramakrishna is a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, an independent from Kerala, also won with BJP support. Though he is settled in Bangalore, his contribution to state is as illustrious as Venkiah's.

In Karnataka a Kannadiga should be recognized and elected to serve our land.
