A Muslim customer, who saved a Mumbai shopkeeper, Rajnish Singh Thakur, from a deadly sword attack is yet to be identified.

The incident of the attempted attack by a sword-wielding gangster, which was captured on the shop’s CCTV, has gone viral.

The CCTV footage shows the unidentified Muslim customer in traditional attire and skull cap, inside the shop when the attack takes place.

A sword-wielding goon identified as Akram Shaikh barges in and gives a blow to Rajnish, who is disabled and not able to flee.

The Muslim customer reacts instinctively and fends off the second attack. He pushes the goon out of the shop and grapples with him till other people come for the rescue and apprehend him. As the crowd gathers at the shop he slips away.

Rajnish had earned the wrath of local goons, who are druggies, by organising fellow traders to resist their extortion.

Rajnish, who suffered injuries on the neck and hand, has been admitted to a local hospital. His brother Manish said he would have been killed but for the courageous intervention by the customer.

The police have arrested four accomplices of Akram Shaikh and looking for two more.
