The affable CEO Tim Cook acted a bit like his mercurial predecessor Steve Jobs, on Friday, at an Apple retail store in Galleria market, Gurgaon.
He spotted an accessory -a turquoise-coloured iPhone cover – and thought it was a fake. The Economic Times reports that he went ballistic and demanded an explanation right on the spot.
It later turned out that the iPhone cover was a genuine Apple accessory. The cause of confusion was its colour and packaging, which is perhaps unique toIndia , and not available elsewhere.
As Tim Cook was not familiar with it, he flew off the handle.
Tim Cook has come to India from China , where Apple is battling a huge menace of counterfeit products, which look and perform as well as the original.
The company has complained that there are even fake Chinese Apple retail stores, which copy all features of the official stores including the unique spiralling staircase.
The Economic Times said Apple officials had declined to confirm the incident.
