Not dating Ranbir Kapoor – never liked him or followed him like a fan, says Bharti Malhotra – all reports false

Bharti Malhotra, a makeup artist in New Delhi, is not happy that she was falsely linked to  Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and forced to become a media and an internet sensation overnight.

The bizarre situation stressed her out last week, Bharti Malhotra says, describing herself as a normal girl, in an interview with The Times of India.

She has a boyfriend and both plan to engaged. The Ranbir Kapoor episode stressed both the families.

After Ranbir Kapoor broke up with Katrina Kaif, he was said to be dating a mystery girl. It is not clear who identified Bharti Malhotra as the mystery girl. But after a news channel carried the story, she went viral on social media.

As many pointed out, some inspiration for the story came Shahid Kapoor’s marriage to Delhicollege girl Mira Rajput. The speculation built up that Ranbir’s family wanted him to settle down with non-Bollywood girl, similarly.

Though many in big media reported the story, no one tried to verify the rumour. In typically Bollywood reporting, publications were initially just contend to rehash each other and get creative with facts.

Some said Ranbir’s sister Ridhima had introduced Bharti Malhotra to Ranbir Kapoor at a party. A few reported that Bharti Malhotra had gone to Morocco to meet Ranbir Kapoor, where s shooting.

For the record Bharti Malhotra says she does not know Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Ridhima and had been to Jaipur with her boyfriend and not to Morocco. She also says she never liked him or followed him like a fan.

The incident has taken a toll. She had kept her social media pages open to make her profile known and network professionally. Thanks to the viral effect, Bharti Malhotra has taken her Instagram account private.
