Kushan Nandy's much delayed Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has come to a stand still with the lead actress Chitrangada Singh walking out disagreeing with sex scenes with co-actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Speaking to Spot Boye she said she was uncomfortable getting on top of Nawaz and 'do sex' as the director wanted as she was wearing just a petticoat.
Chitrangada Singh says she was also asked to kiss Nawaz for 7 seconds during the sex scene, to which she objected to as they had already a done a montage kissing scene.
She says Nawaz also seconded her.
A montage scene is a series of shots, which are edited into one scene, usually to show passage of time. It is rare to apply this technique to shoot sensitive scenes such as kissing.
The story broken by SpotBoye on Monday created a splash forcing Kiran Shroff, a business associate of Kushan Nandy, to react. She has denied all allegations and said Chitrangada Singh interfered with the script and had attitude problems.
The incident has divided Bollywood with many saying the way Chitrangada Singh was treated was shocking. If a known actress is treated so shabbily, you can imagine how the newcomers are treated, the line of argument goes.
Many also point out that it is director's prerogative to interpret any scene the way he wants. The key question here is did Kushan Nandy communicate to the full extent how the film and every scene in it play out. Or, did Chitrangada Singh grasp fully what she was getting into?
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz seems to be hit by a serious communication problem further aggravated by personality clashes, with Kushan Nandy camp calling Chitrangada Singh out of work actress and she objecting to the interference of Kiran Shroff.
