Girija Srinivas, a panchayat member from Tarikere in Chikmagalur district, kissed Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's cheek on Sunday in public.
The memorable moment of intimacy was captured by live cameras as the duo were on stage at a function organsied by the powerful Kuruba community.
Girija Srinivas, was a among the emerging leaders of the community felicitated by the CM, the tallest Kuruba leader in the state.
She was standing next to Siddaramaiah on stage, when she reached out to him to plant a kiss on his cheek. He also put his arm around her and hugged her.
Though Girija vanished from the stage immediately after kissing him, reporters managed to get hold of her later.
She said she had met Siddaramaiah for the first time in her life and kissed him as she could not hold back her excitement. "He (Siddaramaiah) is like my father. I have been a big fan of him since my school days... I call him Appaji (Dad)," she added.
Media reports also said Girija was from Siddaramaiah's constituency Varuna in Mysore district.
