It is not clear if Modi's black and white photo was taken before or after the team photos Pietermaritzburg train |
Narendra Modi became the first Indian PM to retrace the historic train ride taken by Mahatma Gandhi at Pietermaritzburg station, South Africa, and tweet about it.
As the Attenborough's movie Gandhi has educated generations of Indians, it was here, Gandhi was thrown off the train after trying to take a first class ride, which was then for whites only.
The historic moment taking the Pietermaritzburg train, which does not seem to have changed much since Gandhi's times, clearly overwhelmed Modi.
MEA celebrated it with a series of photographs, which shows him sharing the seat with a South African official and standing at the door.
There was another imaginatively shot black and white photo, which Modi personally tweeted. It shows him in a deeply contemplative mood and it is not clear if Modi's black and white photo was taken before or after the team photos.
It you observe closely, you will find Modi has changed his seat for the back and white photo, which in the last 3 hours has been re-tweeted by 2.5 K people.
Modi later visited the Pheonix Ashram where, among other things, he posed for a memorable photo, pointing finger at a bust of Gandhi.
(An early version of the report, which stated Narendra Modi was the first Indian PM to ride Pietermaritzburg train, station, stands corrected).
