A senior official of News Express has apologised after a reporter triggered widespread outrage by reported from inside the grave of Abdul Sattar Edhi, who was buried on Saturday.
The photo of the reporter shouting into the camera while lying on the floor of the cement-lined grave had gone viral.
Fahd Husain, Executive Director of News Express, tweeted on Saturday apologising for hurting viewers' sentiments.
He admitted that the clip had violated journalistic and action was being taken against those responsible. He also added that the clip was pulled off air as soon as it was brought to the notice of the editorial management.
Abdul Sattar Edhi, who died on Friday at te age of 88, was the founder and head of the Edhi Foundation in Pakistan. Among other things, the Edhi Foundation runs the world's largest ambulance service and offers 24-hour emergency services.
The News Express reporter went a little further and inserted himself into the grave and spoke to the camera lying in his back.
