Two Muslim women Salma and Shameem were thrashed for carrying buffalo meat, by a cow vigilante group at Mandssaur railway station, in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

A video shot in a mobile camera shows cow vigilantes beating them up. A small team of policemen are also seen trying to intervene but not before the Muslim women bear the brunt of the mob fury.

The attack on the women may have been planned in advance as the cow vigilantes pounced upon them after they got down a train from Jarwa carrying the meat.

NDTV reported that women were found in possession of 30 kg of buffalo meet. While buffalo slaughter is allowed in MP, selling its meat needs permit, which the two women did not have.

The women were arrested for the offense and produced before a court. The police are yet to arrest cow vigilantes as reportedly no one has complained against them.

State home minister Bhupendra Singh said on Wednesday that a probe would be conducted and nobody would be allowed to take law onto their own hands.
