A senior woman IAS officer Kanak Lata Tripati, who was hospitalised on Monday, accused her senior, Allahabad Divisional Commissioner Rajan Shukla of harassing her.
An Additional Commissioner, Kanak Lata Tripati, reportedly fell ill during a meeting with Rajan Shukla and other senior officers, and was rushed to the Beli hospital.
Speaking to media persons from her hospital bed, Kanak Lata Tripati said Rajan Shukla had insulted her in front of several other colleagues over an incomplete file.
Kanak Lata Tripati is the sister of the highly regarded IAS officer Vijay Shanker Pandey, who has built a stellar reputation for his anti-corruption crusade and been victimised by various governments.
Kanak Lata Tripati also alleged that Rajan Shukla sought her presence at meetings unnecessarily and used to misbehave with her. When she tried to protest she was reprimanded publicly, which led to her falling ill during the meeting due to stress. .
Kanak Lata Tripati is seen as an efficient and honest officer. She is also an old hand at Allahabad having served as its Development Board's secretary and later as vice chairman.
What makes Kanak Lata Tripati's charges serious is her kinship with Vijay Shanker Pandey, who has been repeatedly targeted by various governments.
Vijay Shanker Pandey was the driving force behind the UP IAS Officers Association's initiative to name and shame corrupt officers of the State. He also joined hands with Julio Ribeiro in 2010 to bring back black money. For his efforts, the UP government charge sheeted him, which was later squashed by a court.
A senior officer, Vijay Shanker Pandey should have been a secretary-level officer by now. But he languishes in a relatively junior post, says his well wisher Julio Ribeiro.
