No hymen, no diamond, a year old "campaign" by Mens Rights'Activists (MRA) for virgin brides has seen a brief revival.

A few media publications took note of it as the hashtag buzzed again on social media  and community fora.

There is also a Facebook page dedicated to the subject, campaign merchandise such as T-shirts is available, for those daring to wear it in public.

The stated objective behind the campaign is to find virgin unspoiled women, who have their hymen in tact.

Hymen, once a symbol of purity as well as patriarchy, is today being junked as a relic of a bygone era. As women increasingly claim the space due to them, any talk of virgin brides is losing currency even in conservative countries like India.

Many slammed the hashtag on Twitter for the regressive mindset it was seeking to promote. It was also pointed that girls may tear their hymen in routine activity such as cycling.

The campaign did create an outrage but flopped as it found no takers. Its Facebook page gathered a paltry 62 Likes and the number of T-shirts it sold is Zero.

But #NoHymenNoDiamond was never meant to seriously pursue virgin brides. It started as a Twitter hashtag in October 2014 and had been triggered by a MRA group Return of Kings more to taunt feminists than to breakaway from them.

What is baffling is the sudden media interest in a year old campaign.
