Many customer comments on Flipkart's mega sale continue to be critical |
October 13, 2015, NewsCrunch
Flipkart's annual mega sale The Big Billion Days is back with a bang and the company wants to make it five times bigger this year.
The company also seems to have learnt some lessons from last year's fiasco and is prepared better this time.
Last year, Flipkart reportedly made Rs 600 crore in the one-day sale on October 6. This year the sale would be held over five days and the revenue target is Rs 3,000 crore.
The company last year faced three problems. There were complaints that the most attractively priced products went out of stock the instant the sales began at 8 am. Some found the website struggling to cope with the traffic.
After the sale was over Enforcement Directorate began a probe after traders associations complained that Flipkart's huge discounts were putting them out of business.
This year so far NewsCrunch has not come across out of stock complaints, though some have alleged that prices have been jacked up to support steep discounts.
There are also some complaints on the app taking time to load - this year the sale is only on mobile devices.
Flipkart is promising discounts up to 80% on select products. So, we need to see how offline traders would respond to it this time.
