A zoo at Odense, Denmark, publicly dissected a one-year-old male lion on Thursday provoking international criticism.

The dissection was viewed by about 300 children and adults who had gathered at the zoo specially to watch what the zoo officials described as an educational event.
Zoo officials started the dissection by cutting off the lion's tongue and then proceeded to dismember it part by part and display them.
A video of the dissection shows many children standing close-by holding their nose due to the stench.
The Odense Zoo had put down the one-year-old lion in February after failing to find another home for it. its body had been kept in a freezer.
