Mani Ratnam's Tamil hit O Kadhal Kanmani, which deals with a young couple's live-in relationship in Mumbai, will be remade in Hindi.
Aashiqui 2 stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor will replace Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, who had played lead in the original, reports Bangalore Mirror.
The film will be directed by Shaad Ali, who has assisted Mani Ratnam since 1998. Shaad Ali and his mentor have written the script for the Hindi version.
Mirror said Prakash Raj may repeat his role of the couple's landlord and AR Rahman would provide music for the remake as well.
The offer is great news for Aditya Roy Kapur, who is going through a lean patch after Aashiqui 2'.
His last film, 'Daawat-E-Ishq' (2014), did not fare well at the box office and the actor did not have a good offer after wrapping up Fitoor.
The Hindi remake of O Kadhal Kanmani is likely to start shooting early next year.
