An Australian, Eric Holland, saw a giant lizard crawling on the wall of his home at Thurgoona, New South Wales.

He was reportedly working in his shed, when he looked up to see the ghastly sight of a 5-foot massive goanna lizard on the wall.

Though shocked he had the presence of mind to pull out his camera to take a photo that later went viral on social media.

Disturbed by the human activity, the lizard quickly went away and is yet to be spotted again.

These lizards (Varanus varius) can grow to 7 feet in length. They live on trees and feed on birds, small mammals and insects.

There are around 30 species of goanna or giant lizards in the world, 25 of which are found in Australia
