A Muslim man from Chennai, Yunus, has offered to take care of the education expenses of a Hindu girl, who is named after him.
Yunus had rescued Chitra, a heavily-pregnant woman from Urapakkam, and taken her to a hospital. After she gave birth to a girl, Chitra and her husband Mohan decided to name the baby after Yunus.
Moved by their gesture, Yunus decided to take the bonding a step further. He told PTI that he wished to inform the couple that the child's education fees would be fully borne by him.
Yunus, an MBA graduate, is a businessman from Nungambakkam. On the night of December 2, he organised a small group and went to Urapakkam, a nearby area, which was badly affected by floods to help stranded people.
He heard Chitra screaming in labour pain and managed to find a boat to take her to a hospital.
Yunus played down his effort. He told reporters that his friends and the fishermen from Besant Nagar beach deserved full credits.
