People of Kalyanpur village in Gopalganj district went on protest on Wednesday to stop a widow from cooking midday meals at a government school.
About 150 people locked up the school to oppose the district administration’s decision to reinstate Sunita Kuwar as cook, reports The Telegraph.
Sunita, who has been a widow for 15 years, had worked in the school as a cook for five years. But in January 2014 she was fired as a few villagers objected saying “her character was not good.”
She petitioned the local administration and managed to get her job back after nearly two years, which led to the Wednesday’s protest.
