Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao is conducting a mega yagna this month to thank stars for granting statehood to Telangana.
The yagna to be held between December 23-27 at his farmhouse in Erravalli village, Medak district, comes with stunning logistics, reports The Telegraph.
* The total cost of Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam is estimated at Rs seven crore.
* Five helipads are being built for VVIP guests led by President of India Pranab Mukherjee. KCR also personally invited his archrival Chandrababu Naidu for the ceremony. There is a question mark over Modi's participation.
* Facilities to host over 15,000 vehicles and two lakh people are being put in place.
* Kitchens to feed over 50,000 people daily.
* Over 101 yagna kundas (fireplaces) have been set up.
* Over 2,000 priests led by six chief priests from the Sringeri mutt in Karnataka will perform the rituals.
There has been criticism on the religious extravagance at a time of drought and farmers suicides. But KCR says public funds are not being spent on the ceremony.
