A social media campaign to protest colourism, the little sister of racism, has gone viral globally.

People are sharing photos celebrating their dark skin and to protest attitudes and FMCG products that discriminate against them.

The hashtag  #unfairandlovely has emerged as an interesting trend on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

#unfairandlovely was a project conceived by Pax Jones, a 21-year-old black student at the University of Texas in Austin.

In December, she shot and posted photos of her South Asian classmates, sisters Mirusha and Yanusha Yogarajah. #unfairandlovely gained traction slowly and emerged into a global grass root campaign striking chord particularly with South Asians.

"Our goal was to combat colourism and the under-representation of people of colour in the media. We were trying to challenge the way colourism permeates our lives," Pax told BBC.

Senior actor Ambareesh has stepped in to make peace between the squabbling couple – Kannada superstar Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi.

But there is a sense that given the history of acrimony between the two, any patch up would soon give way to next round of conflict.

Both Darshan and Viijayalakshmi want to go for a divorce, say reports. But the sharing of the property seems to be the sticky point.

The Times of India reports that all the property Darshan purchased before 2011 is in Vijayalakshmi's name. That includes two sites, a commercial complex and a house in Bangalore, besides a 15-acre farmhouse near Mysore.

The couple have disagreed on sharing these properties and hence the feud, says TOI.

It was Modi’s first visit to Bihar after BJP’s electoral debacle in the last election. His surprising bonhomie with Nitish may not go down well with RJD, whose leader lalu Prasad Yadav had not been invited to the inauguration function.

Azad's point was that communalism of all types, whether by Hindus, Muslims or Sikhs, was a threat to the world and the country (video  below)

    March 12, 2016, NewsCrunch

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad made a provocative speech on Saturday comparing RSS, the ideological mentor of Modi government, to ISIS, the terror organisation.

Taking part in the 'National Integration Conference' organised by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Azad addressed a huge gathering, and said Muslims should oppose both ISIS and RSS.

He expressed concern that a few Muslims were getting entangled with  ISIS and said the community should oppose organisations like ISIS, the way it opposed RSS.

"If those among us, in Islam, too do wrong things, they are no way less than RSS," he added.

Azad's point was that communalism of all types, whether by Hindus, Muslims or Sikhs, was a threat to the world and the country."

But his comparison of ISIS and RSS drew a quick reaction from the sangh parivaar. An RSS spokesperson from Nagpur disagreed with the comparison an said it showed the intellectual bankruptcy of Azad.

    March 13, 2016, NewsCrunch

Appearing in this week's Aap Ki Adalat, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher came out strongly in support of PM Modi.

When the programme host Rajat Sharma told him that his critics said he always praised Modi, Anupam Kher readily agreed.

He said he would rather be a chamcha (servile follower) of Modi, than a balti (ditto) of somebody else.

Having said that, he went on to suggest that the word chamcha could be used in a positive sense.

Anupam Kher said he was also a chamcha of Dileep Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.

He went on to explain his admiration for Modi:

...After a long time a Prime Minister has brought emotions in me for my country

...I do not have any direct link with him, but here's a Prime Minister who is constantly talking about the country.

...No PM prior to him ever spoke on women's toilets from the ramparts of Red Fort

...Modi works day and night, who has enhanced our country's image throughout the world.

Changing uniform has been a tricky issue for RSS, which
has been debating it since 2010.

    March 13, 2016, NewsCrunch

RSS is likely to announce a new uniform on Sunday, towards the end of its three-day meet in Nagpur.

RSS officials have indicated that the long-discussed changes in the uniform may finally happen but did not disclose the changes, saying the matter was under discussion.

Media reports say the changes in uniform would be drastic - except for the canvas belt and the black cap, everything would change. A trouser would replace khaki shorts and a White T-shirt would come in place of a full White shirt.

RSS was initially said to be considering Navy Blue trousers, but has reportedly decided on Khaki trousers.

Changing uniform has been a tricky issue for RSS, which has been debating it since 2010. There is an opinion in the organisation seeking to change the gear to make it more appealing for the youth.

But the old guard is reportedly not comfortable with making changes that lay more emphasis on style than substance.

RSS' All India Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya indicated on Saturday that the move to bring in a new uniform was in line to adapt to the changing times. But he said the issue was under discussion.

Veteran Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad came out strongly against T20 captain Shahid Afridi for saying he and his team had found more love in India than in their own country.

In a separate interview, senior player Shoaib malik had also voiced similar sentiments.

Appearing on a talk show on 'Aaj TV' channel, Miandad said the senior cricketers should be ashamed of themselves for saying such a thing. “Shame on you," he added.

He noted that Afridi and Malik had lost no time in appeasing Indians – addressing a press conference and flattering hosts soon after landing in Kolkata.

Miandad said the cricketers should have questioned what Indians done for Pakistancricket in the last five years.

Indians have steadfastly refused to play bilateral cricket with Pakistan in a decision that has proved to be financially disastrous for the neighbour.

Pak players have also banned from the lucrative IPL.

"What have the Indians given us? Speak the truth even while in India… I am shocked and hurt to hear such comments from our players," Miandad insisted.

He recalled that as captain he would focus only on cricket while touring India and asked players not to make unnecessary comments.
