Chris Gayle tries to flirt with Aussie reporter Mel McLaughlin on live camera (Video below) |
Chris Gayle's on air comments to Channel 10 reporter Mel McLaughlin have drawn criticism even from those who don't know what cricket is.
Th ace batsman's remarks to the Australian sports journalist, during Big Bash League on Monday, went viral and grabbed coverage from publications across continents.
Playing against Hobart Hurricanes, the West Indian hit a hurricane 15-ball 41. After he got out Mel McLaughlin caught up with him and on live camera Gayle said:
“Your eyes are beautiful, hopefully, we can win this game and then we can have a drink after as well. Don’t blush baby.”
Gayle's remarks, which indeed made Mel McLaughlin blush, were widely slammed as sexist.
But many also defended him saying he was probably just joking. As the video below shows, Gayle broke into a good laugh after making Mel McLaughlin blush.
That is the kind of behaviour, which comes naturally to a Caribbean. And as NewsCrunch had noted earlier, Gayle has never been coy about the steamer side of his party loving life.
For Mel McLaughlin Gayle comment was an instant ticket to limelight across the world.
In 2013, she joined Network Ten to host match day coverage of the Big Bash League.
She had previously worked for Fox Sports where she hosted multiple football shows, while also being a regular on Fox Sports News.
