DMK leader Stalin was made to sit in the 16th row at swearing-in function of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Clad in a white shirt and dhoti, Stalin was spotted sitting at a back row at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium, the venue of the ceremony.   He had the company of DMK leaders E V Velu, Ponmudy, Sekhar Babu, Vagai Chandrasekhar and Ku Ka Selvam, who were also seated along with him.

With 89 MLAs, DMK heir Stalin is slated to take over as the next leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu assembly.

DMK president M Karunanidhi made a statement alleging that Jayalalithaa had 'insulted' his party at the swearing-in ceremony by making Stalin sit 'among the crowd'.

He said, in contrast, the actor-politician Sarath Kumar, who had lost his seat, was allotted a seat in the front row.

In Tamil Nadu bitter political foes boycott each other's ceremony. In a conciliatory move, Stalin had broken away from the practice.
