Video: Mysore king Yaduveer Wadiyar weds Rajasthani princess Trishika Kumari Singh in simple ceremony

The scion of Mysore royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar married Trishika Kumari Singh of Dungarpur in Rajasthan on Monday.  He tied the managl sutra at a simple ceremony between 9.05 am and 9.35 am, which was held in the special marriage hall or 'Kalyana Mantapa' of the palace  The wedding was performed following local rituals of Karnataka, which included a kashi yatre, in which the groom threatens  to go to kashi giving up worldly pleasures. but is persuaded to stay back.
The wedding was simple by the royal standards and the list of invitees had just 800 names (video below)

He tied the managl sutra at a simple ceremony between 9.05 am and 9.35 am, which was held in the special marriage hall or 'Kalyana Mantapa' of the palace

The wedding was performed following local rituals of Karnataka, which included a kashi yatre, in which the groom threatens  to go to kashi giving up worldly pleasures. but is persuaded to stay back.

The wedding was simple by the royal standards and the list of invitees had just 800 names, including CM Siddaramiah and opposition leader Yedyurappa.

Wedding celebrations area rarity in Mysorepalace as the Wadiyars are said to suffer from a curse that makes them childless. A good number of Wadiyar kings, including Yaduveer himself, have been brought into the lineage through adoption.

Pramoda Devi, adopted her late husband Srikantadutta Narasimharaja Wadiyar’s nephew the US-educated Yaduveer, 23, last year.  

The last wedding at Mysorepalace had been held way back in 1976, when Srikantadatta Wodeyar married Pramoda Devi, also a Rajasthani princess.


Bangalore daily Deccan Herald has information on the royal feast that was to follow the wedding..

Palyas (salads),  rice, curry, chutney, shavige kheer, hesaru bele kadale bele kosambari, dry grapes gojju, mango chutney, beans palya, potato dry palya, ambode, chilli bajji, badam kheer, kashi halwa, pheni, laddu, rice rotti, basura chana masala, bisibelebath, rice, huli, vegetable kootu, ‘thovve payasa’ and other sweets, butter milk, mango ice cream, fruits with honey and beeda tambula.
