Science video: Inside the heart of a blue whale - you can swim through the aorta

 In a possible first, The Royal Ontario Museum has acquired the car-sized heart of a Blue Whale and begun to study it. It took four people to extricate it  from  a washed up carcass.

Blue whale, the largest animal to have ever inhabited earth still has many anatomical secrets locked in it.

In a possible first, The Royal Ontario Museum has acquired the car-sized heart of a Blue Whale and begun to study it. It took four people to extricate it  from  a washed up carcass.

It is five feet long, weighs 180 kg and pumps up 220 litres of blood every beat. It is so big a small person can swim through its aorta.
