Indian roads are a global joke - see any travel book on the country, you will find a vivid description of the pot holes and the holy cows which act as ubiquitous dividers.
Popular community forum Reddit has started a thread to crowdsource photographs of India's best roads.
Member posts have come from many parts of the country capturing India's immense diversity - roads winding through the majestic mountains to running alongside serene seas or just cutting through the plains.
The selection is more of a tribute to the diverse landscape of the country than to the civil engineering ability of our officials.
The operative word in the selection below is roads not always motor-able roads - a few photos are country paths or trekking trails, but all soaked in breathtaking scenery.
