Kerala tycoon Ravi Pillai is in news over the big fat Indian wedding of his daughter Dr Aarathi at Kollam, which has reportedly cost him Rs 55 crore.
With a net worth of $ 3 billion, Ravi Pillai, the head of the Gulf-based RP Group of Companies, can afford it.
A farmer’s son, a first generation entrepreneur, he built his fortune over the decades.
He says besides hard work, it is his faith, which saw him succeeding.
Every September 2, on his birthday, he flies to Tirupati Tirumala temple and performs the udayasthamana pooja.
Devotees, who perform this pooja, are allowed to stay in sanctum sanctorum from dawn to dusk, praying.
At any given time only five to six people are reportedly allowed to perform udayasthamana, so there is a 10 year waiting period to perform it.
A long-term planner, Ravi Pillai, books his annual date with Lord Venkateshwara, thirty years ahead, reports Forbes India.
