A post that has gone viral saying that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning to give away billions of dollars to random Facebook users is a hoax.
The fake post started circulating after Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan announced that they would be giving away 99% of their Facebook shares, worth around $45 billion.
According to the fake viral post 10% of the money or $4.5 billion would be given to 1,000 random Facebook users as a mark of company's appreciation for making it such a huge success. Each of these lucky 1,000 users would get $4.5 million according to the post.
To become eligible for the lottery, the fake post says, you just have to share the post below with all your contacts.
"Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he is giving away $45 billion of Facebook stock. What you may not have heard is that he plans to give 10% of it away to people like YOU and ME!
All you have to do is copy and paste this message into a post IMMEDIATELY. At midnight PST, Facebook will search through the day's posts and award 1000 people with $4.5 million EACH as a way of saying thank you for making Facebook such a powerful vehicle for connection and philanthropy."
After the post went viral, a few media outlets contacted Facebook, which said Zuckerberg had no plans to give any random user any money.
