PM Modi tweeted on Thursday morning giving full marks to the speech made by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Modi said Parrikar's speech was in keeping with the best traditions of the Parliament.

On Wednesday, taking part in a Rajya Sabha debate on the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter scam, Parrikar had said there was an “invisible hand” behind the “inaction” of the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate probing it.

“The country wants to know who benefited from corruption. We can’t let this pass,” Parrikar said.

He noted that first information report filed by the CBI in the case was forwarded to the ED only after 9 months. Though ED received it in December 2013, it did not act on it till July 2014 – 3 months after the NDA government came to the power.

“A comprehensive enquiry has now been initiated. No stones would be unturned to try those who acted against national interest,"said Parrikar.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj landed in a new controversy after a video showing a girl being made to unbutton her pant in his presence went viral.

The video shows a few women unbuttoning the girl’s jeans and removing her belt in a crowded room, in which Sakshi Maharaj is seated on a chair.

The girl’s family members were allegedly trying to show the injuries inflicted upon her by police.

Speaking to NewsX, Sakshi Maharaj said he did not ask her to remove her pant to see her injuries. The girl was like a daughter to him and no father would ask his daughter to undress, he said.

He also warned the media against giving a ‘wrong twist’ to the case and said he would file cases against them.

The police had recently conducted a raid at the house of a BJP worker Maidan Singh in Fardpur village of Mainpuri district, UP,  in connection with an alleged spurious liquor trade.

The Times of India reports that Sakshi Maharaj had visited Maidan Singh’s house in show of support and alleged that the policemen had entered his house without women constables and misbehaved with his two daughters.

Sakshi Maharaj had also allegedly made a provocative speech and threatened that, "the police would have to face bullet, if it conducts any further raid at Maidan Singh's house".

A case has been filed against Sakshi at Bicchwa police station for threatening a public official and instigating riots.

Controversial Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut says she knew she was heading into troubled times following a prediction by an astrologer.

She says on her birthday, March 23, her mother had organised a puja. On the occasion, an astrologer had said she was going to have a very tough time between March and April as the Sun and Saturn were locked in a fight in my central position.

She suggests that though she did not take his words seriously, it played out the way he had forecast.

Kangana was locked in an unusual legal battle with Hrithik Roshan during which her ex boyfriend Adhyayan Suman had alleged that she had used black magic on him.

In an interview with the Times of India, Kangana described herself as a believer and a ‘proud Hindu’.

She said her personality had a very strong foundation in Swami Vivekananda's teachings, the Gita, the Sanatan Dharma and quantum physics.

I wouldn't be who I am today without Swami Vivekananda's teachings. I love everything about Sanatan. I love astrology, she added.

Justice KM Joseph, reportedly suffers from a heart condition, and has been
having a bad run with his health as Nainital is at a height of 6000 ft.

May 6, 2016, NewsCrunch

The abrupt transfer of Uttarakhand Chief Justice KM Joseph was due to his ill health not politics.

The revelation comes from Former Supreme Court justice Markandey Katju , who did a serious piece of reporting, speaking to three sources independently of each other  - a Supreme Court judge, a judge of the Uttarkhand High Court and a senior lawyer close to Justice KM Joseph.

In his blog, Katju wrote:  "The transfer was not because of some judicial order he passed. It was because of health reasons."

Justice KM Joseph, reportedly suffers from a heart condition, and has been having a bad run with his health as Nainital is at a height of 6000 ft.

The shifting of Justice KM Joseph to the High Court of Andhra and Telangana, a few days after he had delivered a controversial judgment quashing President's Rule in Uttarkhand, had become controversial.

Senior lawyer Indira Jaising and Delhi CM Kejriwal had questioned the timing of the transfer and expressed concern over the independence of the judiciary. They had implied that Justice KM Joseph had been transferred under the pressure from the Modi government which was not happy with his judgement.

Katju also stated that the controversial transfer of another High Court judge Justice Shakdher was also fair.

He had been shifted by the Supreme Court collegium with the concurrence of three senior lawyers, Fali Nariman, K.K. Venugopal and P P Rao, in his own interest, stated Katju, without disclosing the actual reason.

In the 40 minute interview,  Shourie added that the coming days would be more turbulent as Modi would not change his style or personality. (Video link below)

May 7, 2016, NewsCrunch

In an interview with Karan Thapar for India Today, former Union Minister Arun Shourie came down heavily on the two-year rule of the Modi government.

The Modi government had failed big on a range of issues from economy to foreign policy, he contended.

Shourie blamed Modi's style of governance and his personality for his lack of performance.

He picked a concept from political science- dark triad - which says dictatorial leaders like Modi come with three qualities.

The first is narcissism. These leaders are in love with themselves, which makes them insecure. Like Casanova, who had to assure himself every night about his power to conquer, these leaders need to be assured frequently.

To ensure that, they surround themselves with people who are inferior to them.

The second quality in Modi is Machiavellian, that is use everything at hand to promote himself. Modi used floods in Kashmir, earthquake in Nepal and even temple fire in Kerala to promote himself through disaster tourism.

The followup action has been weak - J&K CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed passed away waiting for the Rs 1,750 crore package Modi promised, said Shoruie.

The third  quality is remorselessness, that is leaders like Modi never feel sorry about the consequences of their actions. They believe that they work for a higher cause and dismiss any fallout as a collateral damage.

With these qualities, Modi had become a quarrelsome and polarising figure, said Shourie.

In the 40 minute interview,  Shourie added that the coming days would be more turbulent as Modi would not change his style or personality.

Of the 25 properties of former deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal, which are under Anti-Corruption Bureau's (ACB) scanner, it is the 'Rs 100 crore' farm house,  Bhujbal Palace, which  stands out.

Located on the Mumbai-Agra road in Nashik, the Bhujbal Palace has 25 rooms, a huge swimming pool, a tennis court, gym, grand hall, library, kitchen, temple room and a huge tulsi vrindavan.

Mid Day quoted a source who said each tree in the lawn lit up with different colours, giving it the most surreal look.

Bhujbal knew about the scandal-causing potential of his favourite retreat. It was out of bounds for anyone who was not a family members or a trusted aide. Even fellow party members and friends were kept out and no body could get in unless Bhujbal himself okayed it.

Environplanners, who designed the building, describe it as a colonial-style structure, which is connected with nature, natural light and ventilation to the fullest.

"A splash of lush green foliage is taken right to the heart of the structure," it adds.
